Conservation and presentation of Phryg Rock monuments in Kütahya, Eskişehir and Afyonkarahisar provinces: Problems and suggestions

The Phrygians is an important society that took place in the cultural and political life of the Anatolian BC. 1st millennium. The traces of Phrygians, which has many unique cultural features, continued even after it was destroyed. The Phrygian people believed that their goddess lived in nature and used the easily processed bedrock found in nature for her. In order to perform rituals on these rocks, they built cult structures consisting of monumental or small façades, altars and niches. The principles that must be followed around the world in the protection and preservation of cultural heritage have led to the emergence of international and national determinative rules. In this context, some conventions, statutes, regulations and laws have been defined around the world. The main authorized institution for the protection and preservation of the archaeological heritage in our country is "T.C. Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The legal basis of this authority is the "Law No. 2863 on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage" and other relevant regulations. International and national studies and practices related to the conservation and presentation phenomenon discussed in this thesis about the Phrygian rock monuments located in the provincial borders of Kütahya-Eskişehir and Afyonkarahisar were examined in the study. Then, the conservation history of our country, the accepted regulations on conservation and presentation are discussed. Finally, the general characteristics of the Phrygian rock monuments located in the provincial borders of Kütahya-Eskişehir and Afyonkarahisar are given, and the problems and suggestions regarding the protection and presentation of these monuments are stated.
