Özet (EN)

Liquefaction occurs because of loose granular soils losing their shear strength due to the dynamic loads that occur during an earthquake. With liquefaction, sinking and overturning in heavy structures, uprising in lightly embedded structures, collapse in retaining structures, collapse in slopes, etc. deformation may occur. Regional liquefaction risk maps are created in order to prevent or reduce the damages to be caused by liquefaction. In this study, liquefaction risk maps were created by determining liquefaction potentials in Gaybiefendi, Meydan, and Lala Hüseyin Paşa neigborhood of Kütahya Province Merkez district. Soil data from 112 boreholes were examined. Soil data required for risk analysis were obtained using the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) results and borehole soil data. In the analysis, Matasovic/Vucetic or Dobry/Matasovic pore water pressure formation model was used according to soil class. 11 earthquakes were selected for analysis. The earthquakes selected with the PGA values of the earthquakes were scaled and a total of 44 earthquake records were created. Each borehole was analyzed in the Deepsoil 6.1 program with these 44 earthquake records. By taking the average of the data obtained from the analysis results, the average liquefaction risks for the neighborhoods were obtained. The obtained liquefaction risks give different results according to the earthquake level. Liquefaction analysis results according to Earthquake Level-2 (DD-2), which the regulation accepts as a design earthquake; The average liquefaction risk was calculated as 40% in Gaybiefendi neigborhood, 35% in Meydan Neighborhood and 23% in Lala Hüseyin Paşa neighborhood. While the highest risk of liquefaction occurred in the square district with 68% according to DD1, the lowest risk was calculated in Lala Hüseyin Paşa Neighborhood as 3% according to DD4. Due to the high SPT values in Lala Hüseyin Paşa Neighborhood, the risk of liquefaction is lower than in Gaybiefendi and Meydan Neighborhoods. The obtained liquefaction maps will help to take precautionary measures by showing the liquefaction status of the ground for new structures to be built in these regions. It is recommended to take necessary precautions in existing settlements where the risk of liquefaction is high.
