Kütahya deputies and their activities in the National Assembly (1961-1980)

This study examines the activities of Kütahya deputies who were engaged in the legislative activities under the National Assembly between the years of 1961 and 1980. A brief history of Kütahya, emergence of the parliamentary system, Turkish Parliamentary system and the electoral systems applied since the Constitutional Monarchy were discussed within the scope of this study. Personal backgrounds of the Kütahya Deputies elected to the Turkish Grand National Assembly from the establishment of the First Grand National Assembly until 1980 were analysed. Then, the vote rates of the political parties of 1961-1980 inter-coup period, the deputies elected from Kütahya and their demographic features along with the elections they attended and their legislative activities were presented. Legislative studies of the deputies elected to the parliament for five periods between 1961 and 1980 were discussed chronologically in subject headings. Each period was evaluated within itself under the headings of budget, social security, agriculture, municipalities, public works, mining and problems of Kütahya, etc. In this way, contributions of the Kütahya MPs to the country and to their electoral districts were examined.
