Public spaces; It is defined as places open to the use of everyone, where people perform their daily activities, socialize by communicating with other people and express their own ideas freely. Public open / green spaces in public spaces are important areas where people can meet their physical and social needs and meet their shopping and recreation needs, as well as they are areas that bring color to urban life that enable people to interact with each other. Coastal areas, one of the public open / green space definitions, have been determined as the subject of the thesis. The coastal areas that will be discussed in this study are of great importance for the city and urban society. If the space is open, accessible and usable for everyone, it is called a public open space, regardless of all activities (discussion, socializing, living spaces, etc.). For this reason, coastal areas are also as other public open spaces (streets, streets, squares, parks, etc.) are among the public open spaces that are open to everyone, where pedestrian-oriented use is weighted, where common activities are held , and where maintenance is carried out by the public. Since they are public open spaces, coastal areas are also common areas where everyone comes together, communicates, interacts and shares. The study area consists of neighborhoods in the coastal area of Caddebostan - Bostancı of Kartal, Maltepe and Kadıköy districts on the Anatolian Side of Istanbul. The reason for choosing this area is that the coastal area is an uninterrupted coastline from Caddebostan to Kartal, Istanbul Marina. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate and develop the pedestrian-oriented use of the region determined by a detailed research and to offer solutions. In this context, the content of the study consists of four parts. In the first stage; The literature review, the purpose of the study and the hypothesis are mentioned. In the second part of the study; The theoretical foundations of the thesis are discussed. In the third part of the study, a detailed examination and literature review of the Anatolian Side: Caddebostan - Kartal coastline, which is the study area, has been made. In order to evaluate the current situation of the area, online and face-to-face surveys were conducted in the region and a digital database was created. In the final part of the study, recommendations were developed for the regulation and development of the beach band for pedestrian-oriented use, which were determined based on all the data obtained at the end of the reviews carried out in the previous stages. In this study, it is aimed to raise awareness to pass it on to future generations by ensuring that the use of pedestrian focus in the region is evaluated and increased and create a guiding resource for local governments.
