Fransızca yabancı dil sınıfında öznelliğin dilsel ifadesinin öğretimi

In this research, a stimulating educational experience was taken into account in order to increase awareness of the linguistic expression of subjectivity in the process of teaching / learning French as a foreign language. This research was conducted with first-year volunteer students of Ankara Gazi University Faculty of Education, Department of French Teaching, in the "French Reading Skills I" courses in the first semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. Mixed method was adopted in the research design. In this context, the first part of the research was based on the data obtained from the opinions shared by the students regarding this learning process through a survey consisting of semi-structured questions. Qualitative data obtained from this part of the research were examined through thematic content analysis. The second part was based on the data obtained from the pre-test and post-test, which included observation and evaluation forms, consisting of written production sections regarding reading comprehension and the use of subjective expressions regarding the detection of subjective expressions. Quantitative data obtained from the second section were analyzed using the SPSS 18 procedure. According to the research results, the differences between the pre-test and post-test showed that learning during the course increased significantly. Students reported that this experience helped them better understand the structural and functional properties of language and how language functions in sociocultural and individual contexts by more consciously observing the subtle structures and uses of language. Therefore, it is recommended that the concept of subjectivity, as a component of utterance theory, be included in the process of teaching / learning French as a foreign language.
