Abstract (EN)
This study investigate the effects of various post-processes on materials produced by selective laser melting using Ti6Al4V ELI alloy. The aim of the study is to determine the appropriate production flow for design by extracting the effects of different production processes for aerospace applications and to evaluate the outputs. The process in this study adresses the relationship between microstructure characterization and mechanical test results after annealing heat treatment, hot isostatic pressing (HIP), sand blasting and pickling processes applied after additive manufacturing. The fracture mechanism of the alpha layer determined as the original value of the study and the extraction of mechanical test results have been obtained, which will guide the design evaluation of Ti6Al4V additive production parts. In the experimental process, microstructure characterization, fracture surface examination, hardness measurements, porosity measurement, tensile tests and high cycle fatigue (HCF) tests were performed. The material microstructures, fracture surface defect types, hardness values and tensile tests results of the final processes gave results compatible with literature. At the end of the study, it was concluded that the HIP process is neccesary for parts with critical fatigue strength and that approximately 2 times improvement is observed in material life. While no effect of the alpha layer was observed in the tensile test results, it was revealed that the fatigue strength decreased by 15 percent compared to the annealed material. As a result of the thesis study, a material database serving various conditions for titanium additive parts was also created.
