Claude Simon'un Yazın Dünyası : La Chevelure de Bérénice

As a result of the First and Second World War in the 20th century, radical changes occurred in all fields of art. The common ground of all artists was the desire to express themselves freely through their work, against the chaotic and oppressive situation caused by wars. In the field of literature, the most important example of this freedom of expression was undoubtedly the New Novel. By the 1950s, some French writers such as Alain Robbe-Grillet, Nathalie Sarraute, Claude Simon, Michel Butor, Claude Ollier and Jean Ricardou turned to radical changes in the understanding of the novel. Previously, elements such as fiction, the flow of time and the use of language, are considered as the most important elements of the novel, began to change fundamentally. In the field of painting, this change started with the impressionist movement and caused different movements such as fauvism and cubism to emerge. Painters such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró have revolutionized the world of painting with new techniques such as the use of color and the use of different materials and abstract figures. The aim of this study is to show the innovations used by new novelists, especially the techniques used by Claude Simon and Claude Simon's interest in painting and the effect of painting on Claude Simon's writing style. In our study, we tried to examine the writing techniques of Claude Simon through La Chevelure de Bérénice, which was inspired by the paintings of Spanish painter Joan Miró.
