Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, a visible light communication system based on Labview has been designed, and the effects of using a photodiode or CMOS-based image sensor in the receiver part on the performance of the communication system have been investigated. In experiments, the design of the visible light communication system was realized using Labview programming interface, Arduino platform containing Atmel processor, photodiode amplifier circuit, CMOS-based OV7670 image sensor, and LED materials. Text and image data were processed in Labview blocks and then optically transmitted to the receiver via LED in the transmitter circuit. During the tests, the case where the data is transmitted without modulation was firstly examined. Then, the case where on-off keying (OOK) modulation is used was addressed. Mathematical calculations were made using Labview blocks to determine the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values for testing the performance of each receiver circuit. In addition, changes in bit error rate (BER) were graphically plotted based on SNR values. The performance of the designed visible light communication system was visually presented on the screen through Labview programming interface tools.
