Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is tried to do a critical evaluation of the cabinet from the laisizm point of view of Democrat Party under the prime ministry of Adnan Menderes during the period of 1950?1960. Established legally at 7th January 1946, Democrat Party declared its foundational purpose as ?to serve for the democracy to become broader and advanced and for the general politics to be enforced with democratic idea and mind?, and the party inherited the Republican People?s Party mantle. Adnan Menderes lead all 5 cabinets as prime minister in a 10 year period between 1950 and 1960. It is observed that the Democrat Party approached to Islam much more tolerant than the previous cabinets. The expression of this approach could be recognized by looking the implementations of the Democrat Party Governments such as convertion of the Moslem call to prayer from Turkish to Arabic, broadcast of religious programme in the State Radio Station, convertion of the courses of imam-hatip into the vocational religious high school, implementation of compulsory religious instruction in the primary school. However, the Democrat Party, which became the most preminent actor of the social strain because of its exections not only in educational field but also the other fields, was overthrown by the military coup done in 27th of May 1960. And, the important figures of the party were swinged.
