Abstract (EN)

Lactic Acid Bacterias (LAB) are microorganisms that are benefical to health. Exopolysaccharide (EPS) obtained from LAB, have anti-tumoral, antioxidant, immunity system supporter and cholesterol lowering properties. In this study, different EPS?s obtained from LAB that is isolated from milk and milk products and meat and meat products, were applied for the determination of cytotoxic and anticancer activity on human colon adenocarcinoma cells (Caco-2). After the determination EPS?, obtained from different strains of LAB, cytotoxic activity with MTT test ((3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide), most effective EPS is selected from among and MUC5AC gene expression level that is important for colon cancer, is investigated by real time PCR method. Our results showed that EPS, is obtained from LAB?s Enterococcus faecium D-36 strain, has cytotoxic effect on Caco-2 cells and brought about MUC5AC gene expression level decreases in this cells. According to this results, Enterococcus faecium D-36 strain?s has an anticancer effect on Caco-2 cells and after the further investigations, it could be useful for prevention of human colon cancer.
