Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of triflow on postoperative pain intensity, sleep quality, and comfort levels in patients undergoing laparoscopic abdominal surgery. This descriptive, correlational study was conducted with 122 patients in the general surgery ward of a university hospital between April 1 and July 1, 2024. Patients were monitored preoperatively and for a maximum of five days postoperatively. Data were collected using the Patient Information Form, Richards-Campbell Sleep Scale (RCSQ), McGill Pain Scale (MAS-SF), General Comfort Scale (GCS-SF), and Patient Follow-Up Schedule. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25 software and evaluated with appropriate statistical tests. A p<0.05 level of significance was accepted. 48.4% of the participants were female, 51.6% were male, 33.6% had undergone cholecystectomy, and 12.3% had undergone gastric surgery. The patients' mean MAS-SF score was 4.12±2.11. Postoperatively, 33.6% of patients described bothersome pain, and 7.4% described severe pain. The mean pain score for stomach surgeries was 5.27±3.59, and for hernia surgeries, it was 3.78±1.57. When the patients' comfort level was examined, the mean preoperative VAS-SF score was 100.16±14.84, and the mean postoperative VAS-SF score was 120.21±13.10. Postoperative comfort scores decreased with increasing age. In the study, the mean RCSQ score for patients' sleep levels was 63.84±14.28. The women's sleep score was 61.31±13.69, which was lower than the men's sleep score of 66.22±14.51. The number of postoperative airborne balls measured using the Triflow device ranged from 1.27±0.45 to 2.76±0.44. Patients using the Triflow regularly had lower pain, higher sleep quality, and higher comfort (p<0.05). It was concluded that regular Triflow use after laparoscopic abdominal surgery had a positive effect on patients by reducing postoperative pain, improving sleep quality, and enhancing patient comfort. According to the results of the study, it is recommended to support the use of triflow in nursing care.
