Abstract (EN)

In this research, engineering properties of sand, clay and organic soils (peat) in Lara-Yamansaz Region has been investigated by in situ and laboratory tests. For this purpose, samples which were taken at an interval of 1.5 m from 10 boreholes of 20 m depth, were investigated in the laboratory and soil index, strength and compressibility properties were determined. Additionally, in the field, in situ tests which are SPT (Standard Penetration Test) and CPT (Cone Penetration Test) were executed. Investigations show that dense sand is the main soil type of the region and also in some parts loose sand, clay and peat are available too. Probabilistic Liquefaction Potential Analysis was made to search for loose sand?s liquefaction potential. LSI (Liquefaction Severity Index) value was calculated with the help of PL values which were determined for every depth of the searching point. By using all the data and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) technique; soil classification, SPT, CPT, probability of liquefaction (PL) and liquefaction severity index (LSI) maps of the soils of Lara Yamansaz Region were created.KEY WORDS: SPT, CPT, GIS, Lara-Yamansaz, Liquefaction
