Abstract (EN)
Objective: In this study, we aimed to show the relationship between neutrophil lymphocyte ratio and prognosis in laryngeal cancer. Secondary objectives were to analyze the laryngeal cancer patients in our clinic in terms of socio-demographic and tumor-related conditions, and also to investigate the relationship between mean platelet volume and prognosis. Material and methods: Between 2012-2019, patients diagnosed as laryngeal cancer were identified by direct laryngoscopic biopsy at the HMKU ENT department. After excluding chronic disease and inflammatory processes, 182 patients were included in the study. The study was carried out retrospectively. Routine hemogram measurements were used before diagnosis. Sociodemographic and disease-related data were obtained from the hospital archive, examination imaging and pathology examinations. The relationship between neutrophil lymphocyte ratio and mean platelet volume with other factors was investigated. Results: In terms of NLO value, statistically significant differences were observed between T classes (p = 0.009). As a result of binary comparisons, it was observed that NLO value of T3 and T4 classes was statistically significantly higher than T1 and T2 classes. In terms of NLO value, statistically significant differences were observed between the lymph node involvement classes (p = 0.031). It was observed that the NLO value of the N2 class was statistically significantly higher than the N1 and N0 classes. There was a significant difference between early-stage and late-stage patients in terms of NLO value (p = 0.004). As a result of the cumulative survival analysis of early and late stage patients, it was thought that the NLO value might be related to survival. (P <0.001, p = 0.002) Conclusion: NLO value before treatment may be associated with prognosis and survival in larynx cancer. Keywords: Laryngeal carsinoma, neutrophil lymphocyte ratio
