Abstract (EN)

The tumor microenvironment evolves to renew, accelerate, or alter some of their molecular processes to facilitate continuous tumor formation, metastasis, and tumor viability. Immunomodulators are the leading mechanisms that govern this evolutionary process. Immunomodulators occur through communication between activator or inhibitor molecules that increase T cell response. In recent years, studies have been carried out to increase the activator effect such as blocking the inhibitory effect in order to improve the immune response against the tumor. It has been reported that the sensitivity of immunotherapy and the expression of molecules affecting this mechanism vary between cancer types as well as between individuals. It is thought that understanding and elucidating the mechanisms underlying this change may be a solution to this situation. Identifying reliable immunotherapy biomarkers is critical to investigating the effects of single nucleotide polmorphisms (SNPs), one of the mechanisms known to affect the expression levels of genes, on immune control points. In the light of all this information, we aim to investigate some polymorphisms on the OX40 (rs17568) and OX40L (rs3850641) genes, which affect the activation, differentiation, proliferation of T cells and the release of cytokines known to be involved in some immune regulation in patients with laryngeal cancer. In addition, its effect on soluble OX40L level, which is known to increase proliferative responses of T cells, will be examined. It was aimed to determine possible correlations of all data obtained with clinical information that is important in the risk and progression of the disease.
