The concept of motherhood in the works of Latife Tekin

The concepts of women and motherhood in Turkish literature are among the themes that are examined in a wide framework and attract the attention of researchers from various disciplines. In literary works, women are often associated with idealized and traditionally established social roles. Mothers, on the other hand, are often portrayed in literary works as loving, self-sacrificing and protective figures, which paints a portrait in line with society's ideal of motherhood. In this context, Latife Tekin's works stand out as an example of women and motherhood in Turkish literature. In her works, Latife Tekin takes an approach that questions traditional gender norms and family structure while addressing the place of women in society and their roles as mothers. This study aims to examine the social, cultural and psychological layers of motherhood symbols in Latife Tekin's works by addressing the concept of motherhood, which has an important place among gender roles. In the research, it will be analyzed how the concept of motherhood in the texts is shaped in the author's works and how these symbols are processed. As a methodology, a detailed analysis of the symbols of motherhood in Tekin's works will be made. In this context, factors such as gender roles, mother-daughter relations, commodification and marginalization of women/mothers will be examined in depth. The main objective of the study is to emphasize the literary and social importance of the concept of motherhood in Latife Tekin's works, to gain a new perspective on the representations of motherhood in Turkish literature, and to contribute to gender studies in this way.
