This study was conducted in order to examine the diabetic foot risk in individuals with Type 2 diabetes referred to Dr.Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital of the TRNC in Nicosia. Between January 2017 and June 2017, Nicosia 153 volunteers were admitted to Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. Sociodemographic and glycemic control information of the subjects were recorded. Foot deformity evaluation, range of motion of the ankle, pulses, loss of sensation and presence of ulcers were evaluated. Monofilament and diapasone were used for protective sensory evaluation. Foot care habits and proper use of shoes were evaluated. Pain assessment questionnaire and diabetic foot risk category were conducted. According to the results, 45,7% of the participants had low, 49% increased and 5,2% had high diabetic foot risk. The risk of neuropathic injury was significantly higher in individuals with diabetic foot risk (p <0.05). There were no significant differences in terms of age, gender, marital status, educational status, body mass index, comorbidity status, duration of diabetes, HbA1c and fasting blood glucose among individuals in different diabetic foot risk groups (p> 0.05). The fact that more than 50% of the diabetic individuals who participated in our study increased and had a high risk of ulcers reveals the severity of the situation. In order to prevent foot ulcers as an important complication in these adancing years of type 2 diabetes, follow-up of individuals and protective approaches in risky groups should be applied.
