Turkish as a theme within the framework of Balkan and Rumelia images in Leyla Şerif Emin's literature

In this study, it is aimed to analyse and classify the discourses in the books titled "A Skopje Tale, Üskübistan, Kaybolmazmazsan Bu Şehir Hala Senin ve Türkçenin Rumeli Yakası" written by Leyla Şerif Emin around the images of Balkan and Rumelia. Macedonia, which is one of the places where the Turkish population lives densely in the Balkan geography, is one of the important countries that have raised valuable names for Turkish literature from past to present and where Turkish culture and Turkish can still exist. Literature, culture and art activities continue today in many settlements, especially in Skopje. Magazines, newspapers and bulletins, which contribute to the survival of Turkish literature and Turkish language and their transmission to future generations, are important publishing organs of the Balkan geography. In addition, the books published by literary figures are also a legacy left to future generations for the permanence of Turkish culture and literature, most of all Turkish. In the works of Leyla Şerif Emin, a Balkan poet and writer, written in her mother tongue Turkish, the idea that Rumelia, Skopje and Balkan places are geographies where the Turkish population has lived frequently from past to present and that these places cannot be independent from the Turkish language is frequently emphasised. A detailed examination of Leyla Şerif Emin's works, which are both literary, aesthetic, cultural and linguistic heritage, around these themes will provide clues about what is longed for in the Balkan geography, what is about to be lost, what is perceived as a threat and what needs to be protected. In this framework, the main problem of this research is how "Turkish as a trace is used in Leyla Şerif Emin's works within the framework of Balkan and Rumelia images". The artist's works titled Bir Üsküp Masalı, Üskübistan, Kaybolmazmazsan Bu Şehir Hâlâ Senin (If you don't get lost, this city is still yours) were analysed by document analysis method. As a result of this analysis, 34 different themes were identified. Of these, the most common themes in the works are Turkishness / Turkish literature, Sufism / Islamic culture, migration / unfinishedness, historical consciousness, mother, love for the flag and love for Turkey.
