Adaptation and analysis of a love tale ballet, with its libretto adapted from Nazim Hikmet's work Ferhat and Şirin, into the choreographical text

This study aims to present a comprehensive analysis of the ballet "A Tale of Love", an important part of Arif Melikov's creativity. The work was adapted from Nazim Hikmet's unforgettable play "Farhad and Shirin" and was first staged in 1961 with Arif Melikov's unforgettable music and Yuri Grigorovich's effective choreography. The ballet "A Tale of Love" is important not only as a love story, but also because it tells the story of a hero seeking a solution to a social problem. Nazım Hikmet's "Ferhat ile Şirin" was analyzed in terms of character analysis and socialist reality in the literary analysis section of the study. The role of Arif Melikov's adaptation of this ballet to the stage in gaining worldwide fame is emphasized. Melikov's creativity, combined with his composition and Yuri Grigorovic's choreography, contributed to the great success of "A Love Tale". The historical and artistic significance of the ballet "A Love Tale" is discussed in detail and analyzed choreographically. The biography of choreographer Yuri Grigorovich and his choreographic analysis of the ballet are also part of the study. In conclusion, the aim of this study is to try to explain the interpretation that the ballet "A Love Story", adapted from a literary work to the stage, brings to the classical ballet art.
