The effect of developments in Libya on Turkish foreign policy (2011-2022)

Starting with the 9/11 attacks/the USA's invasion of Iraq/the 2008 Economic Crisis, the USA's decline in the international arena has been felt more in the regional and global arena with the Arab Spring process. The inability of a second actor to fill the power vacuum in the Middle East, the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, and the African Continent due to the decline of the US increases the interest of actors aiming to become global and regional powers. The political instability that emerged in Libya after the overthrow of Gaddafi following the NATO intervention in 2011 paved the way for the focus of attention on Libya, and Libya turned into a conflict zone where the United States, France, Russia, Turkey, Egypt, SaudiUAE Alliance directly and the EU, Israel, Greece, and the North African States indirectly had a presence. EEZ Disputes in the Eastern Mediterranean, Economic Development Goals, Energy Security, Ideological Expansion, Preserving Regime Security; the inability of these actors, who became parties to the Libyan Civil War to preserve/change the balance of political, economic and military power in the Middle East, the Mediterranean and the African continent, to outmaneuver each other through proxy wars on the ground has strengthened the possibility of military conflict between these actors, resulting in the Libyan Civil War moving from a regional competition/crisis to an international competition/crisis. At this point, Turkey aims to change the global and regional status quo, which is in the process of restructuring, in its favor, to prevent global powers such as the US, Russia, and the EU from positioning their global and regional policies in a manner contrary to its national security and interests, and to become a regional power by achieving geopolitical, economic, ideological, political and military gains in the Middle East, the Mediterranean and the African Continent in the face of problems with regional powers such as Greece, Egypt, Israel, and the Saudi - UAE Alliance. However, Libya has become a very difficult/complex chessboard as the above - mentioned states attempt to establish global and regional hegemony in proportion to their power with the increase in global and regional anarchy, and for this purpose, they are active in the Libyan Civil War for different reasons.
