Abstract (EN)

Language is the basis of communication between individuals as a human and social phenomenon and has general laws and foundations that shape all languages in the world. Linguistic Duality reflects the nature of language and expresses the existence of two levels: the official written language and the daily spoken language. Arabic, like other languages, has had this duality for a long time. However, over time, the difference between the Standard and the daily spoken language has grown and some people have argued that local dialects should be accepted as official languages. Therefore, examining modern Arabic dialects and determining the Modern Standard Arabic ( FUSHA) elements used in these dialects gain importance. Research indicates that many elements in these dialects are continuations of ancient Arabic dialects. This study delves into the relationship between Standard Arabic and dialects by focusing on the Libyan dialect. It introduces the old and modern Arabic dialects, discusses the reasons for the emergence of dialects, and explores the historical context of Libya, including the influence of Islam in the region. Furthermore, the study identifies the factors that have contributed to the formation of the modern Libyan dialect. The phonetic, morphological, syntactic, and semantic aspects of the Libyan dialect are analyzed and compared with Modern Standard Arabic to ascertain the differences and similarities between the two. Key Words: Language, Arabic Language, Dialect, Libyan Dialect, Dialectology
