The effect of leadership styles on cinism and virtual screening behavior: A research on the municipal employees of Afyonkarahisar

Abstract (EN)

Main purpose of this research, after investigate leadership styles, cynism and literature that is related to cyberloafing behaviours, is to investigate the effect of leadership styles to cynism and cyberloafing behaviours. Furthermore, as a sub-purpose of study, is to investigate whether a difference between transformist, interactionist and laissez-faire leadership style perceptions of managers by demographic features of employees and cyberloafing behaviours and cynic behaviours of workers. In this context, a study involving 252 white collar employees working in Afyonkarahisar Municipality was carried out. Questionnaire technique was used for the research. The survey was carried out between 27/12/2019 and 06/01/2020. In the research, multi-factor leadership scale, organizational cynicism and unreal evasion scales were applied. Obtained data were analyzed by SPSS packaged software. The findings obtained in the research revealed that there is a negative and statistically significant effect between the transformational, interactive leadership dimensions of the leadership styles and the cognitive, affective and behavioral dimensions of the cynic scale. In addition, the findings obtained from the analysis revealed that there is a negative and statistically significant relationship between the transformational, interactive leadership dimensions of the leadership styles and the major virtual logging dimension of the virtual loaf scale.It has been demonstrated that there is a positive and statistically significant effect between the leadership dimension that gives full freedom and the cognitive, affective and behavioral dimensions of the cyberloafing scale. But however, It has been demonstrated that there is no statistically significant effect between the minor cyberloafing scale of the virtual slacking scale and the transformational and interactionist dimensions of the leadership styles scale.
