Abstract (EN)

This research is a relational survey model research, which is one of the quantitative research models, in which the relationship between perfectionism level and academic procrastination tendency of postgraduate (master's, doctoral) students is examined. Perfectionism levels and academic procrastination tendency of postgraduate students were examined in terms of various demographic characteristics. Convenience sampling method, which is one of the non-probability sampling methods, was used in the selection of students receiving postgraduate education. The research sample consisted of 258 postgraduate students continuing their education at a postgraduate education institute of a university in the Central Black Sea region. In this research, the sociodemographic characteristics of postgraduate students were measured with the "Personal Information Form", their academic procrastination levels with the "Aitken Academic Procrastination Scale" and their perfectionism levels with the "Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale". Independent samples t-test was used to examine the differences in perfectionism and academic procrastination tendency total score averages according to gender, employment status, marital status, and graduate education level, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to examine the differences in academic procrastination tendency and perfectionism total score averages according to mother's education level and father's education level, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient Analysis was used to examine the relationship between the total scores of perfectionism and academic procrastination tendency with age and undergraduate general academic grade average, and simple linear regression analysis was used to determine the level of perfectionism predicting academic procrastination tendency. It was determined that the total scores of perfectionism of postgraduate students were a significant predictor of the total scores of academic procrastination tendency. While there was no significant difference between the total score averages of perfectionism according to the gender of the students receiving postgraduate education, there was a significant difference in the total score averages of academic procrastination tendency. The academic procrastination tendency levels of female students receiving postgraduate education were significantly higher than those of male students receiving postgraduate education. A low-level negative significant relationship was found between age and total score averages of perfectionism and between age and total score averages of academic procrastination tendency in postgraduate students. It was found that there was no significant difference between the total academic procrastination score averages and the total perfectionism score averages of the students receiving postgraduate education according to their marital status. It was determined that there was no significant difference between the total academic procrastination score averages and the total perfectionism score averages of the students receiving postgraduate education according to their employment status. It was found that there was no significant difference between the total academic procrastination score averages and the total perfectionism score averages of the students receiving postgraduate education according to their level of education. It was found that there was no significant difference between the total academic procrastination score averages and the total perfectionism score averages of the students receiving postgraduate education according to their mother's and father's level of education. There was no significant relationship between the total undergraduate general academic grade averages of the students receiving postgraduate education and the academic procrastination levels, and between the total undergraduate general academic grade averages of the students and the total perfectionism score averages. The findings were discussed and various suggestions were made for future research.
