The purpose of this study is to develop STEM Engineering Design Process (STEM-EDP) activities for 10th and above grade levels by using an ADDIE instructional design model. When the literature was reviewed in detail, it was very rare STEM-EDP activities which are developed based on systematic models. Therefore, the characteristics of STEM activities were formed by the basis of ADDIE model. Also, for the implementation processes of the STEM activities, 7-step EDP model was used. As a result, 3 STEM-EDP activities were developed in this study which are earthquake resistant concrete building design, earthquake resistant wooden building design, and technologies design to prevent buildings from earthquake. Design Based Research (DBR) method was used for the purpose of developing STEM activities since it is a systematic and flexible methodology. Three physics teachers and 18 students were included in the activities. The students are 10th grade taken from an Anatolian high school and the physics teachers have one to three years of experience. A physics teacher, who is called an instructor, has applied activities to the students and the researcher has applied activities to the three physics teachers at different times. During each activity, the students are placed to heterogeneous groups with 6 members with 2 low, 2 medium and 2 high achievement levels. Implementation of the first activity has passed 1200 minutes in 14 days, the second activity has passed 670 minutes in 11 days and the third activity has passed 460 minutes in 8 days. Semi structured interviews for the students, the teachers and the instructor, the researcher's observation notes, and observation form for the instructor were used as data collection tools. As a result of the analysis, the STEM activities were revised and improved.
