Predicting school burnout in high school students: a study on social emotional learning skills and psychologial resilience

In the study, it was aimed to reveal to what extent high school students' social emotional learning and psychological resilience affect and predict their school burnout. In the framework of the determined purpose, "relational screening model" was used as a model in the research. A total of 699 high school students attending formal formal education institutions in Ankara/Etimesgut district participated in the research. Personal Information Form, Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Form, and Psychological Resilience Scale were used as data collection tools in the study. The research data collected with the specified data collection tools were analyzed with the Independent Samples t-Test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Analysis and Simple Linear Regression Analysis, which are parametric tests because they fulfill the normal distribution condition. In the study, it was determined that school burnout, psychological resilience and social-emotional learning levels of high school students differed significantly according to gender, achievement status and socio-economic status. In the study, it was determined that there were moderately significant relationships between high school students' burnout, social emotional learning and psychological resilience levels. In addition, it was concluded in the study that social emotional learning and psychological resilience of high school students predicted school burnout levels negatively and significantly.
