The relationship between the cyberbullying / cybervictimization and the critical literacy of the high school students: (Afyonkarahisar province sample)

The aims of this study are to determine the cyber-bullying / cyber-victimization levels and the levels of critical literacy for the internet of the high school students and to investigate the relationship between the cyber-bullying / cyber-victimization levels and the levels of critical literacy for the internet of the high school students. Furthermore, another aim of this study is to investigate whether there is any differentiation in the high school students' cyber-bullying/ cyber-victimization levels, levels of critical literacy for the internet as regard to their demographic factors. The sample of this study consists of the 400 students chosen out of the high schools in Afyonkarahisar Province by means of the convenience sampling in the Education Year 2018-2019. The data were collected via the implementation of the "Personal Information Questionnaire", Cyber-bullying / Cyber-Victimization Scale" and "Critical Literacy For the Internet Scale". The data were analyzed in computer. For the analysis of the data, besides the descriptive statistics "the frequencies, percentages, mean and standard deviation", the Kruskal Wallis-H test, Mann-Whitney-U test and Spearman Correlation Analysis Methods were used. In conclusion, The study revealed that the cyber-bullying and cyber victimization levels of the students were low and the levels of critical literacy for the internet of the students were intermediate. Moreover, the study also revealed no relationship between the cyber-bullying / cyber-victimization levels and levels of critical literacy for the internet of the high school students. However, the study concluded that the levels of the critical literacy for internet and cyber-bullying / cyber-victimization levels of the high school students were differentiated according to their departments, while there were no significant difference between non of the levels and the other demographic factors as their grades and parental incomes.
