Abstract (EN)
Adolescents who have been intertwined with technology from the moment they were born are more likely to be social media addicts. This situation carries a great risk for adolescents whose sociological, psychological, and physiological development has not yet been completed. According to this study, purpose was evaluate the social media addictions and emotion regulation skills of high school students in Osmaniye in terms of sociodemographic variables. The study was carried out with a total of 520 students, 374 girls, and 146 boys, studying at the schools determined in Osmaniye. The selected method for individual was convenience sampling method. "Voluntary Participation in the Research Form", Social Media Addiction Scale, and Emotion Regulation Scale for Adolescents and personal information form were used as data collection tools. In the study, descriptive statistics, Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis H test used for test the significance of the differences between the variables. According to the findings of the study; Social media addiction scores of students with low education levels of mother and father are lower than students with high education levels of mother and father. Social media addiction of students who have a smartphone, and internet is higher than those who do not have a mean rank. Social media addiction of students with more daily internet and social media usage time is higher than students with less average rank. In this study, the analysis data are discussed based on the literature and some suggestions are given.
