Relationship between emotional intelligence and organizational cynicism level of highschool teachers

The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between emotional intelligence level and organizational cynicism level of high school teachers. This research, which was used relational screening model, carried out in the schools of Igdır province. Sample of this study consists of 293 high school teachers in Igdır province, which are chosen by simple random sampling. "Emotional Intelligence Scale" which was adapted to Turkish by Gocet in 2006 was used in order to gather research data. The scale. As to determine organizational cynicism level of teachers, "Organizational Cynicism Scale" which was developed by Brandes and adapted to Turkish by Kalagan and Guzeller, was used. In the analysis process of the scale's items, percentage, frequency and mean was used. The data was tested to see whether the data disperse normally or not. It was seen that data dispersed normally and T-Test and one-way-ANOVA, was used to analyze the data. In order to find out which group and groups differences come from, Tukey HSD was used and to figure out whether there is relationship between the applied scales, Pearson correlation test was used. At the conclusion of the research, emotional intelligence level of the teachers was seen in "medium" level while the organizational cynicism level of the teachers was "low". Optimism/Mood Regulation sub-scale is the most agreed by the teachers in Emotional İntelligence Scale. Behavioral Cynicism is the most agreed by teachers in Organizational Cynicism Scale. It appeared that there was a significant difference between organizational cynicism and age, seniority at the end of the research. There was a no significant difference between emotional intelligence and none of the other descriptive characteristics of the research, which are gender, marital status, age, seniority and field. When the relationship between organizational cynicism and emotional intelligence level of the teachers are examined, it is found out that there was a relation between sub-dimension optimism and sub-dimension emotional cynicism in which is a negative and a weak way. There is also a positive and weak relation between utilization of emotions and behavioral cynicism.
