Abstract (EN)

Low back pain associated with degenerative spine diseases is a significant health problem in the community. Degenerative diseases of the lumbar spine, including diseases such as spondylolisthesis, disc degeneration, and lumbar spinal stenosis, are a leading cause of workforce loss throughout the world. With associated clinical symptoms such as lower extremity pain, listlessness, and lower back pain of varying severity, degenerative disease of the lumbar spine leads to diminished quality of life. The geographical differences seen in degenerative disc disease can be associated with socio-economic levels and access to medical care. Disc degeneration is directly related to increasing age of the patient. When it is considered that this degeneration starts approximately 10 years earlier in males than females, it is interesting that the effects of disc degeneration are greater in females.Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a sensitive imaging method for the evaluation of degenerative disc disease. This study was conducted on patients presenting at the polyclinic with complaints of low back pain between September 2019 and September 2020.Patient data were analyzed statistically using SPSS vn. 24 software (SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL, USA). Correlations between qualitative variables were determined with Chi-square analysis. Descriptive statistics were stated as number (n) and percentage (%). A value of p<0.05 was accepted as statistically significant. Our results were found to be consistent with the literature reviewed. As a consequence, it was observed that the number of female patients was predominant. A significant relationship was observed between female gender, rural residence, diabetes, obesity, smoking, and surgery. Key Words: low back pain, lumbar disc hernia, population, prevalence
