Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the LoRaWAN protocol, one of the good LPWAN in terms of network capacity, network security, battery life, low cost and data transmission capabilities, was chosen to examine and analyse its security vulnerabilities and risks because of the few studies on security. The concept of the Internet of Things, network types and structures were examined and compared with the LoRaWAN protocol. Then, attacks on IoT networks, measures taken by manufacturers and similar academic studies on this subject were examined. The main subject of the study, LoRaWAN, is explained in detail in its versions, architecture, components, classes and network layers, and the security of this protocol is examined in detail under another main heading. The vulnerabilities, security risks and types of attacks were categorized and explained in detail. Then, a risk assessment was made in terms of the effects of these attack types and a risk analysis was revealed. By evaluating the findings obtained, solutions for the vulnerabilities of the LoRaWAN protocol and for each of the types of attacks against this network, to prevent or reduce the effects of attacks were presented separately.
