Özet (EN)

The discovery of drugs dates to ancient times. The presence, use and effects of this substance have been understood over time. The drugs affects the central nervous system of an individual and leads to physical or mental dependence. Dependent individuals cannot act voluntarily and harm themselves and society. This research focuses on the relationship between drug use and demographic characteristics such as gender, age, education, incame level and occupation in the process leading to individual drug addiction. Fort this purpose, 415 people living in Adana/Seyhan who are drug addicts participated in the questionnaire and scale. The data obtained from questionnaire and scale application were processed into SPSS package program and the findings were obtained. The findings were interpreted by using descriptive analysis technique on the basis of sociological crime theories by focusing on the conditions that cause substance addiction based on the demographic characteristics of the individual. The results of the study were interpreted by using a descriptive analysis technique by providing an in-depth perspective on the relationship between drug use and demographic characteristics of drug users such as gender, age, marital status, education, income level.
