Victim blaming (Description of victim perceptions of Turkish and American communities)

This thesis aims to describe victim blaming in Turkish and American societies. In this direction, in the first chapter, the victim blaming is explained on a theoretical basis. In the second chapter, victim blaming is discussed in an interdisciplinary way, from the perspective of different fields such as psychology, media, victimology, crime policy and sociology. At the end of the second chapter, various crimes such as sexual crimes, domestic violence crimes, intimate partner violence crimes, hate crimes and violent crimes against healthcare workers, which are the crimes in which victim blaming is most common, are examined. In the last and third chapter of the thesis, the participants from the Turkish and American societies were given a sexual crime case and a violence against a health worker crime case. Based on these two cases, interviews were conducted with the participants and the victim perceptions of the participants were analyzed and evaluated.
