Abstract (EN)

Mahir Ünsal Eriş, one of the prominent authors of contemporary Turkish literature, has been producing works in the genres of stories, novels and translations since beginning his literary career in 2012. With four story books, seven novels and more than twenty translations, the artist enriches the literary world with both his fictional and non-fiction works. Bearing a deep sense of responsibility towards the language, he carefully crafts his narratives by making full use of the opportunities that language offers. Having commenced his literary journey with stories, Mahir Ünsal Eriş has expanded his narrative scope by venturing into the novel genre. Working independently without affiliation to any literary group, he predominantly portrays the lives of ordinary people living in small towns by employing postmodern techniques. In this study, 47 short stories by Mahir Ünsal Eriş were analyzed in terms of structure and theme. The first chapter of the thesis was dedicated to the author's life, literary personality, and the introduction of his works. In the first part of the second chapter, the stories were subjected to structural analysis, while in the second part, the thematic reflections of the narratives were identified and evaluated.
