Written in Verse Gulistan translation of Mahmud Bin Kadi-i Manyas (vr. 1b-100b)(Text - language review – glossary - facsimile)

Gulistan is a work of Sâdî, the famous poet of Iranian literature that has spread not only in Persian and Eastern literature, but also throughout world literature and has been translated for hundreds of years. It is of great importance in terms of the language studies on Gulistan carried out since the 14th century, including translations into Turkish and annotations. This study focuses on the translation of Gulistan by Mahmud bin Kadi-i Manyas (Mahmud of Manyas) who was among the ulama in the period of Murad II (1421-1451). While the translation was true to the original, it provided a broad, supplementary translation, including other stories and issues on the subject. In this translation, the prose parts were translated as prose and the verse parts were translated as verses, just like the original. For this reason, it is also known as the author's Gulistan Translation, written in verses. This study has been divided into 5 sections. The first section provides information on Sâdî and his work Gulistan and assesses the life and works of Mahmud bin Kadi-i Manyas. The second section includes a translation of the Arabic text into Latin letters with a written translation system. The third section is an analysis of the text language. The fourth section provides a glossary containing all the words of the text and a directory of the proper names. The fifth section provides the exact copy of the printed text. The Gulistan Translation of Mahmud of Manyas written in verses has an extensive vocabulary with various spelling and language properties, Arabic and Persian literature examples, and many Turkish words, idioms and proverbs.
