The evaluation of theachers' opininons about the application of preschool education curriculum in Malatya (a research on pre-primary classes)

This study was prepared to evaluate on the preschool education teachers? views about the Preschool Education Programme, which was prepared for the children between 36-72 months and which was first implemented in the school year of 2002-2003. This study is a descriptive field research. The universe of the study consists of 63 pre-school teachers of thirty-six public and private primary schools that have preschool classes and six nursery schools. The study was conducted with all of these 63 teachers and surey technique was used for collecting data. In the first part of the survey, personal informations of the teachers and four questions related to the demographic information of the pre-school institution; in the second part of the study, forty-five items fort he evaluation of the teachers? views about the implementation of Pre-School Education Programme were given. The reliability point of the survey is Alpha=0,90. Likert Type Scale was used in the survey. For the analysis of the data Frequency and Percentage (%), Variance Analysis and Non Parametric Tests were used throug SPSS13.0 statistics programme. The data where meaningful differences had been founded, LSD and Mann Whitney U tests were implemented to identify where the difference of variables exists and the results were explained. The findings, which were found with the analysis of the collected data, can be summarized as in the following; It was understood that in public and private primary schools and nursery schools which had classes for six year old children in Malatya, most of the pre-school teachers were graduated at Child Deelopment and Education or Pre-Primary Teaching and most of these teachers were in their first five year of their teaching profession. Besides, it was understood that Pre-School Education Institutions existed at middle level social economical districts, the number of the students were between 21-30 sudents. It was determined that in the implementation of Pre-School Education Programme (OÖEP), most of the teachers chose the suitable goals in OÖEP for the planning and implementing of education, the activities were done to help children in showing their creativity, to support them and to identify the student who has leadership characteristics. VI After all, it is seen that pre-school teachers had some difficulties in the implementation of the programme, in taking into account of the environment out of the classroom and the possibilities for preparing the educational environment, the readiness of the materials for education and training, and in determining the subjects according to the individual needs of the child and other environmental needs.
