Experimental study for biogas production from buffalo manure

Increasing energy demand has increased the importance of renewable energy sources. One of these renewable energy sources is biogas, which is produced by the evaluation of wastes. Biogas; It is obtained from all kinds of human, plant and animal waste. Although there are studies on the manure of other animals (cow, chicken, sheep, etc.) in the literature, there is almost no study specifically on buffalo manure. Kütahya province is at the forefront when ranking in terms of water buffalo breeding for Turkey. Due to its geographical structure (abundance of water resources, etc.), Kütahya is very suitable for buffalo breeding. In order not to waste hydrocarbons, it is a necessity to use bufalo manure in experiments and measure the amount of methane gas. In this study; in order to produce biogas from buffalo manure taken from Bölücek District of Kütahya; the digester tank in the department laboratory was used with various modifications. Another tank with the same dimensions as the aforementioned digester was used as the internal storage of the gasometer by performing various manufacturing and revision processes on it in order to store the produced biogas. During the experiment, water buffalo manure was fermented in the digester tank under mesophilic conditions and biogas was produced. As a result of the experiment lasting 60 days; It was determined that the said biogas contains 60 % methane and the biogas yield of buffalo manure was calculated as 14.1lt/kg.
