Letai̇fi̇ hamse as a method of spi̇ri̇tual educati̇on

Regardless of the basin of culture and civilization, regardless of the time period, the main issues of human beings are the education of individuals and socities. Human being is an entity that matures with education, achieves moral virtues with its beautiful acts and reaches the highest levels. The most important stage of this training is spiritual education. İn order to achieve this aim, the sufis who define spiritual education as a field of study apply various methods. One of these methods is the education of the 'letâif' or 'spiritual centers' which point to the divine essence in man. In the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidiyah and Halidiyah order, the 'letâif' practices, which are accepted as a 'Seyr u Sülûk' 'a spiritual journey' method, were explained by the Sufis in various classifications. The fivefold classification which includes 'kalp' (the heart), 'ruh' (the soul), 'hafi' and 'ahfa' is called the 'Letâif-i Hamse'. Each of these spiritual journeys is higher in degree than the previous one. The 'sâlik' (follower) who passes the 'lâtife's, becomes 'lâtif' and completes the 'Seyr u sülûk' (spiritual journey). In thıs study, the fivefold classification of the spiritual 'letâif', which sufis claim that it has certain stops in the human body and constitutes the truth of the human body, is examined.
