Abstract (EN)
Plant extracts and animal products have been used as additive materials in chitosan-based films to produce biodegradable films but there is no study on chitosan blended fungal extract film. A fungal extract obtained from an edible species (Tricholoma terreum) with its high phenolic compounds was used in chitosan-based film production for the first time in this study. FT-IR analysis results revealed that fungal extract was successfully added into the chitosan film. The addition of fungal extract enhanced elasticity, hydrophobicity, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of the chitosan film. Additionally, anti-quorum sensing and antimicrobial activities of chitosan- fungal extract film were found much higher than gentamicin (commonly used antibiotic). Moreover, incorporation of fungal extract into chitosan film decreased transparency and thermal stability of the film. All these results supported that chitosan- fungal extract film could be used in packaging technology instead of non-biodegradable and carcinogenic petroleum based polymeric films.
