Synthesis of magnetic nanoparticle/polybutadien composites and investigation of heat and magnetic properties

In this thesis, barium ferrite (BaFe12O19), nickel ferrite (NiFe2O4) and strontium ferrite (SrFe12O19) were synthesized by Sol-Gel method, magnetite (Fe3O4) was synthesized by co-precipitated. With the polymeric main phase PBD (polybutadiene), magnetic composite films were produced in different mass compositions. Thermal and magnetic properties of these films were investigated. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Zeta-Sizer. Zeta-Sizer and SEM analyzes showed that nanoparticles were produced successfully, and XRD analysis showed that the nanoparticles were in the desired structure. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning analysis (DSC) analysis of the thermal strength of composites were investigated. Increasing the percentage of nanoparticles in the composite increased the crosslinking density and as a result increased activation energies. Magnetization measurements of nanoparticles and composites were made by using vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Fe3O4 and NiFe2O4 showed superparamagnetic, BaFe12O19 and SrFe12O19 showed ferromagnetic properties. Mössbauer analysis of Fe3O4 nanoparticle showed superparamagnetic properties. As a result of analysis of magnetic properties of BaFe12O19/PBD, NiFe2O4/PBD, SrFe12O19/PBD and Fe3O4/PBD composites, Ms (saturation magnetization) increased with the increase of % of the mass of magnetic nanoparticles. As a result, the synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles and the production of a new composite material was realized.
