Abstract (EN)

Mardin has hosted many civilizations within the Mesopotamian geography and is a city that carries the traces of them today. The intertwined organic streets and residential texture, together with the stone structure, have a complex structure whose boundaries cannot be defined. The settlement in Mardin, which has an inclined structure considering the topographical features, has been in harmony with the land and respect for the neighboring structure. Examples of civil architecture found in Mardin and its surroundings date back to the 19th and 20th centuries. Mardin Historical Houses, each of which is designed to face the Mesopotamian Plain, are the basic components of the urban texture with their living areas, terraced structure, courtyards and unique architectural elements. Ferit Koç House is one of the most important buildings of Mardin that has survived until today. The civil architecture structure located on the 31.32.L.c map, 387 block, 4 parcel is located in Mardin Province, Artuklu District, Teker District. The building is one of the historical examples of civil architecture. It is located in an urban site and was registered in 1979. The building has been used by families of different religions until today and is now abandoned. As a result of the examinations, it was determined that the building could not meet the modern requirements sufficiently and it was damaged as a result of incorrect additions. It was understood that most of these problems were due to abandonment. The building has a bay window from its façade and is one of the two buildings with bay windows in Mardin. As a result of the restoration, the damaged parts of the house will be determined and necessary intervention decisions will be made. The door and window joinery, ornaments and broken pieces that have disappeared or changed over time will be completed by taking into account the examples of similar periods. In this way, it is envisaged to be a guide for scientific studies to be carried out. Keywords: Conservation, Restoration, Mardin, Cultural Heritage, Mansion.
