Evaluation of film tourism potential of Mardin city

Today, it is stated that tourists plan their travels according to their special interests, a tendency to take place between historical and cultural heritage and various artistic and cultural activities as important travel reasons. The main objective is to evaluate the potential movie tourism in Mardin Province. A detailed literature survey was conducted in the study and the obtained resources were used as the main material of the study. The publications have attempted to relate the findings obtained after examining the cultural and geographical structure of the Mardin province, the tourism potential of Mardin province and the effects of the selection of destinations for the films. The questionnaires were conducted between May and August 2018 and the sampling was not performed according to a specific system. Data were gathered through face-to-face interviews with 240 local tourists but only 218 of them were analysed. The films and the series were determined to have an impact on the tourists. Film tourism is defined as the selection of a particular destination and its visits, influenced by people's television programs, magazines, books, or motion pictures with the simplest definition. Mardin, which is on the list of UNESCO world heritage, may become a very important brand city for Turkey if a planned tourism policy is followed. With the changing profile of the audience in Turkey in recent years, the diversity in cinema scenario production has begun to develop and the world standards have been caught in technical terms. As a result, movies with millions of dollars budgeted and watched by millions of people are becoming a promising element for the development of Turkish cinema and Mardin.
