Özet (EN)
he Marmara Sea, which is the inland sea of Turkey, has a great importance in international and domestic maritime transportation, and has coastlines to densely populated provinces and industrial facilities in many different branches. This situation causes the Marmara Sea to be exposed to external influences. The external effects to the Marmara Sea was exposed manifested itself in the formation of mucilage. Mucilage, which moves in large masses at more than one point on the Marmara Sea, prevents the sea from benefiting from sunlight and oxygen with its sticky and foamy structure, restricting the living spaces of sea creatures and causing their deaths. In this study, the reasons for the formation of mucilage in the Marmara Sea, its effects on the marine ecosystem and people, materials and moral damages it causes, its effects on maritime transportation and motor vehicles used in transportation were investigated, and it was aimed to find solutions to prevent the formation of mucilage. The current study was conducted as a review type of research using the literature review method. In addition, the similarities between the mucilage events occurring in the Marmara Sea and the mucilage events occurring in different parts of the world and the damage they cause are mentioned. In conclusion; it has been determined that the main source problems are the factors that inhibit the formation of mucilage, such as low or stagnant water flow rate, occurrence of a dominant species phenomenon with the increase in sea water temperature, and pollution of the sea more than the pollution load it can handle. It is thought that this research will be a source for the sustainability, clean transfer and protection of the Marmara Sea which has an important place both for our country and internationally.
