Determining the effects of material development-based micro teaching applications on the achievement, interests and attitudes of the 5th grade students about the unit "Propagation of Light"

In the study, it is aimed to determine the effect of micro-teaching practices based on material development on the achievements, attitudes and interests of 5th grade students about the "Propagation of Light" unit. For this purpose, research was carried out in a secondary school in Kütahya. A preliminary study was carried out before the application. During the application, the participating students made material designs and finalized their designs as a result of the feedback they received from peer groups and science teachers. In the study, qualitative and quantitative data were used and data were collected according to the mixed research method. In the collection of quantitative data, "Propagation of Light" unit success test, attitude scale towards science course, science course interest scale were applied as pretest and posttest. Analysis of quantitative data was performed by transferring to SPSS program. Qualitative data were obtained with activity sheets and semi-structured interview form. As a result of the research, there was a statistically significant difference in the success of the study group for the "Propagation of Light" unit. There was no statistically significant difference in interest in science and attitudes towards science lessons. The fact that the researches for the "Propagation of Light" unit are few in the literature and the limited numbers of micro-teaching applications for science in the literature add importance to the research. Recommendations were made based on the data obtained from the research.
