Abstract (EN)
A profound understanding and application of Islam's social and economic principles necessitates a thorough examination of the verses related to infaq and zakat, particularly those found in the Medinan Surahs of the Quran. This thesis delves into the existing literature on infaq and zakat within these Surahs. The introductory chapter outlines the research topic, its significance, objectives, scope, limitations, and methodology. Chapter one provides a conceptual analysis of 'zakat', 'infaq', and related terms such as 'sadaka' and 'afv', exploring their meanings and nuances. Additionally, the occurrences of 'infaq' and 'zakat' in Meccan Surahs are examined. The chapter further elucidates the methodology used to identify Medinan Surahs and presents a literature review on the socio-economic conditions of pre-Hijrah Medina. Chapter two categorizes the verses mentioning 'infaq' in Medinan Surahs and interprets them through the lens of early, middle, and late-period tafsir (Quranic exegesis). Similarly, chapter three categorizes the verses related to 'zakat' based on their target audience and offers interpretations from various tafsir traditions. The concluding chapter presents a comparative analysis of 'zakat' and 'infaq' as discussed in both Meccan and Medinan Surahs.
