The analysis of discourse of the political parties and ideological media in the context of the clash of civilization in new media

It can be claimed that new media has played so vital role in the relations between political movements and public that theories explaining the relations between media, politics and public and the power of conventional media in setting agenda and framing the news stories have been a question of debate recently. Considering the fact that extremist groups can propagate through their own internet sites and social media accounts and ordinary people turned out to be a prosumer with the ability to give feedback much more effectively and fast, it can be assumed that political and public discourse has been redesigned in a way that it can involve extremist ones. Current paper analyses the above-mentioned claim within the scope of clash of civilizations within West by discussing Internet's impact on democratic culture and anti-democratic practices based on the Revised Cascade Model, which is one of the most recent approaches in the relations between media, politics and public. The research questions are analyzed by conducting a framing analysis to the Facebook pages of 6 different actors. The most outstanding data is the difference between elites in America and Britain when it comes to applying extremist discourse. While Donald J. Trump, the President of United States has applied similar discourse with both national and international far right actors and has also been appreciated by them, Theresa May, the Prime Minister of United Kingdom has taken a different tack at framing Muslim and has been heavily criticized by some of those actors. Given that and other data, it can be claimed that the Revised Cascade Model is fit to the American example not the Britain's. It is also evident from the results that coded language which is the side effect of cultural racism is common at every pages analyzed but Theresa May's and it is very common in the far right pages except Britain First to attach a link to their posts to avoid the possible sanctions based on Facebook Community Standards.
