Abstract (EN)
This study analyzes the class dynamics of daytime generation women's programs in Turkiye and examines how social class hierarchies are reproduced through the media. In the study, the relationship between media and class was considered within the framework of Bourdieu's concepts of capital, space and habitus, and the tendencies of lower and middle-class individuals to participate in these programs and the reasons for upper-class individuals to stay away were examined. Research reveals that television functions not only as a means of entertainment, but also as a product of economic and ideological processes. In the study, the participant profiles of popular women's programs such as "Sweet Sert with Müge Anlı", "Giving Up with Didem Arslan Yılmaz" and "Esra Erol" were analyzed and the processes of determining the media content and class representations were discussed in detail. The findings show that lower and middle class individuals are trying to realize their legal, economic and social support by gaining visibility through the media. On the other hand, it has been observed that upper-class individuals stay away from these programs thanks to the cultural and economic capital they have and prefer to solve their problems in more private areas. In this context, the thesis evaluates how the media industry reinforces class differences in line with capitalist dynamics and the role of daytime generation programs in reproducing social inequalities from a critical point of view. It is emphasized that television is not only appealing to a passive audience, but also an active actor that shapes social structures and class frameworks.
