In this study, Mehmed Atâ, who lived between 1850-1919 and is known as ?Hammer interpreter?, his life and works were examined, and his İktitaf of four volumes was discussed in detail. Although Mehmed Atâ was famous for his charge of Finance Minister for a final week of his life and his Hammer translator, he has an important place in the history of literature with his translation of detective novels and comic books. In addition, he is one of the most important Ottoman intellectuals with his translation in the area of politics and history. Also, Mehmed Atâ wrote many articles in the various of newspapers and magazines in the field of history, politics, language and literature. As well as, Mehmed Atâ Bey, prepeared a text book called İktitaf of four volumes and it was read in ?Mekteb-i Sultânî? for a long time. This work, as well as being a textbook and an anthology, also has an important place in the history of Turkish literature.
