The takhrīj and evaluation of hadīths in Mehmet Said Hatiboğlu's İslami Tenkid Zihniyeti ve Hadis Tenkidi'nin Doğuşu

THE TAKHRĪJ AND EVALUATİON OF HADĪTHS İN MEHMET SAİD HATİBOĞLU'S İSLAMİ TENKİD ZİHNİYETİ VE HADİS TENKİDİ'NİN DOĞUŞU ABSTRACT In this study, the isnāds (chains of transmission) of the hadīths found in Mehmed Said Hatiboglu's book İslami Tenkid Zihniyeti ve Hadis Tenkidinin Doğuşu will be examined, and the authenticity of these hadīths will be evaluated. In this context, the first part of the study will discuss Hatiboglu's life, works, and his general understanding of the sunnah. The second part, which constitutes the main core of the thesis, aims to investigate the takhrīj of the hadīths, asses the transmitters mentioned in the isnāds, and examine the validity of Hatiboglu's claims that certain hadīths are fabricated. As a result, the narrations found in İslami Tenkid Zihniyeti ve Hadis Tenkidinin Doğuşu particularly those present Kutub al-Sitta and earlier musannafs have been evaluated according to classical hadīth criticism, and it has been concluded that almost all of these hadīths are authentic. This finding, indicates that it is insufficient to evaluate hadīth texts on topics such as fadā'il, fitan (trials), signs of the Day of Judgment, and non-recited revelation solely through content criticism. Instead their isnads must also be taken into account to determine the reliability of the hadīths. Keywords: Hadīth, fitan, fadāil, portents of the last hour, non-recited revalation.
