Religious and sufi elements in Mehmet Akif İnan's works

This thesis is a study on the religious and Sufi elements in the works of Mehmet Akif İnan. We tried to examine how religious and mystical elements are handled in Mehmet Akif İnan's poems and writings. Mehmet Akif İnan's meeting with Sheikh Ali Arıncî, one of the Sufi elders of the period, brought some expansions to both his thought life and world view. From this meeting, Mehmet Akif İnan would live and write under the auspices of religion and Sufism. The basis of our study is the reflection of "religion and Sufism" elements, which became more evident as a result of his meeting with Sheikh Ali Arıncî, in Mehmet Akif's works. By examining Mehmet Akif's poems and prose, we tried to identify the religious and mystical elements frequently mentioned in these works. This research on the works of Mehmet Akif İnan consists of three parts. In the first part, we talked about Mehmet Akif's life, his publishing, his role in non-governmental organizations and his literary side. While doing this, we also identified and emphasized the religious-mystical influence coming from the family circle and friend group. In the second part, we discussed the Relationship between Sufism-Literature and Religion and Mehmet Akif İnan's orientation towards Sufi life. In the third chapter, we discussed the Religious-Sufi elements reflected in Mehmet Akif İnan's poems and writings and tried to examine the depth of meaning they were used in the sentence and text.
