Mehmet Ali Uzunselvi's musical identity and structural analysis of his work titled "Basik Tung"

In this study, the life of contemporary composer Mehmet Ali Uzunselvi, the factors that make up his musical language, and his work "Basık Tung" for piano and electronics are examined by the light of these factors. After the twentieth century, many new movements and interdisciplinary works began to emerge in all fields of art. That is why, also by the twenty first century, the search for innovation became a necessity. Mehmet Ali Uzunselvi is one of the composers who managed to create his own musical language in just such a period. Among the factors that make up his musical language are improvisation, pointillism, microtonal harmonies, electronic sound environments, different tuning systems and his works contain interdisciplinary factors related to fields such as literature, psychology, and philosophy. In line with all these reasons, the aim of this study is to shed light on century composers and their music and to provide a guide for the performers who want to perform Uzunselvi's works, by focusing on the musical language and innovations of composer Mehmet Ali Uzunselvi by examing his musical language and to analyze in depth his piece, "Basık Tung", which contains interdisciplinary connections. In this work, the first two sections which includes the composer's life and musical language were conducted using one-on-one interview technique, text analysis and basic research methods, which are one of the qualitative research methods and the third section the piece titled "Basık Tung" was musically analyzed.
