The cause of announcement for the verses and the passing down of the scripts of the Qur'an in commentary of Mehmet Sait Şimşek "the source of life, Qur'an"

The commentaries of the Qur'an have impacts of the social life of its period.The commentaries provide solutions to the social, economical and communal questions of its time. Being one of the latest version of the commentaries of Qur'an, Mr. Simsek's commentary book,which is titled as "The Source of Life, Qur'an'', is one of the significant ones which enlightens the social questions of our time. The commentators have certainly given a significant care about the reasons of the verses of Qur'an,the reasons due to which that particular verse of Qur'an was announced, which is commonly referred to with the term "Asbab-i nuzul" that translates as "the cause for which that particular verse of Qur'an was announced". Because it is vital to understand the cause of the announcement of a verse in order to comprehend the meaning of verse itself. The passing down of the scripts has been focused on since the time of companios of the Prophet,whom are commonly referred as "Sahaba", many studies has been done about it and there have been particular discussions regarding the topic since the early times of Islam.On contrary to common commentators of Qur'an, M. Sait Simsek follows a different path regarding the pass down of the scripts of Qur'an and the cause of announcement of verses, he does not accept the exsistence of passing down of scripts, as well as he does not find it necessary to know aboutthe cause of announcement of a verse in order to translate/comment on it. Therefore, this paper's topic of focus is defines as "cause of announcement" and "passing down of the scripts", which are referred to, respectively, as "Asbab-i nuzul" and "Nasih-Mensuh", in the study of M. Sait Simsek.
